Journey through time while studying at CEC EPN
I have always thought that learning English is very difficult, especially when you don't like the language. However, over the course of 6 years, yes, 6 years of studying English from scratch at CEC, I have learned that even if you don't like something, if you have an excellent teacher who is passionate about teaching, learning a new language is not going to be as bad as it seems.
I`ve been studying at CEC since 2015. To be honest, the cycles in which I had to study on Saturdays were the best. There, I learned millions of things, met friends I will never forget and my teachers were the most patient in the world. By this I do not mean that my other teachers from Monday to Friday were not patient, but with the Saturday teachers I spent 5 hours every Saturday, while with the ones from Monday to Friday I only saw them for 2 hours.
I remember that my teacher from beginner was the one who got me interested in English, her name was Belen Alvarez. What surprised me the most when I saw her the first day of class was that she was very young. She was very patient with each of us and her way of teaching through games made the grammar class very entertaining. She told us that it didn't matter if we made mistakes because those mistakes would help us perfect our English.
From that moment on, I felt more confident, started to study and become interested in the language even though I didn't like it. I still remember almost all my teachers but not their names. Some of them were Ecuadorian like my teacher Belén, my teacher Edith from basic, my teacher Karina from advanced and my teacher William Laime. On the other hand, I also had wonderful foreign teachers like Dennis, Marlina, Gaby, Kelly and my last teacher Vinu.
During these 5 years I have learned many things not only English but also teamwork. I remember that there were very perfectionist classmates, who got frustrated when they could not speak well or their exam score was below 90. In my point of view, a grade does not define your knowledge, but these classmates did not understand that, and believed that the classes were a competition to see who knows more. It's good to be competitive but you shouldn't go to the extreme and want to be the best at everything. That is another lesson I have learned, there are going to be times when you are not going to be the best at everything you do but you should always strive not to please others but for yourself.
What else could I say about this wonderful experience at CEC? I´m so grateful to each of my teachers. I've laughed, I've been scared, I've been angry and I've shared great moments from Beginner to Superior Writing. I wouldn't change a single thing about this long journey at CEC. For me, CEC is the best language academy in the entire country.
