My favorite dish: Mote with Chicharrón

Imagen
The person who has never tasted “mote con chicharron” has missed out on a delicacy. The combination between mote and chicharron is just heaven. You can even smell that delicious aroma from miles away. The best day of my life is when my mom prepared “mote con chicharron”. This dish has a characteristic mouth-watering smell. At the moment when you eat this dish, the crunchiness of the pork crackling is simply an incomparable flavor.  Something that I really love about this dish is that is so easy to prepare. You only need a pork market, “mote” and that´s all. There`s always going to a place for “mote con chicharrón”, whether you are full or starving. I remember the first time that I prepared this dish with my mom. My mom was looking at me every time because I couldn´t stop eating the pork crackling; my face gave me away because I smelled like pork crackling and my hands were buttery and salty.  I couldn’t explain how “mote con chicharron” tastes like. I mean, it doesn´t taste li...

Journey through time while studying at CEC EPN

I have always thought that learning English is very difficult, especially when you don't like the language. However, over the course of 6 years, yes, 6 years of studying English from scratch at CEC, I have learned that even if you don't like something, if you have an excellent teacher who is passionate about teaching, learning a new language is not going to be as bad as it seems. I`ve been studying at CEC since 2015. To be honest, the cycles in which I had to study on Saturdays were the best. There, I learned millions of things, met friends I will never forget and my teachers were the most patient in the world. By this I do not mean that my other teachers from Monday to Friday were not patient, but with the Saturday teachers I spent 5 hours every Saturday, while with the ones from Monday to Friday I only saw them for 2 hours. I remember that my teacher from beginner was the one who got me interested in English, her name was Belen Alvarez. What surprised me the most when I saw...

That Quilotoa Trip...

Imagen
When I was in my last year of high school, all last year high school classes went on a trip to the Quilotoa Lagoon. It took us three hours to arrive there, it was a sunny day, and everything seemed to be going great.   We were all gathered at the lagoon overlook when one of our guides told us that we had to go down to the lagoon because there they were going to explain something important about the place. This trip to the lagoon was going to be graded so, my class and I started to walk all the way down the mountain. The hike to get to the lagoon took about 2 hours. It was not tired but when we got to the lagoon, it started to rain. No one had brought umbrellas and especially the trail we went down got muddy. When we arrived at the lagoon, we had to wait for 10 minutes to “receive” the supposed explanation of the place, but there was no explanation. The guides lied to us to get the whole class to go down that 2-hour hill to kayak in the lagoon. That kayaking activity cost $10 bu...

Who I am

Imagen
Well, this is a difficult question to answer....          So, I am going to start with my full name. I am Patricia Salomé Andrade Espinosa. I am 20 years old but I was born in 2000. Now, you are probably thinking that if I was born in 2000, I should be 21, but the thing is that my birthday is on September 8th.  I would define myself as a "serious" person who is really responsible. I like things to be organized in the way I do. However, when it comes to team work I do listen to my partners and their ideas. I think that team work is really important to build your character and learn to empathize with others because, as Aristotle said, the human being is a social animal.  Although my name is Patricia, I hate it when people call me like that. I prefer being called Paty or Salomé, but I am used to Paty. It does not mean that I don´t like my name, but when you say "Patricia" its sounds rude.  I don´t have a lot of friends because sometimes I have trust ...
